The United States Tennis Association (USTA) recently announced that they have selected Chris Carey, Kansas City, MO to be a member of the U.S. Italia Cup Team for men 35 and over.
Carey will represent the United States at the ITF Sr World Team Championships on European red clay courts of Mallorca, Spain April 27th- May 2nd, 2009.
Carey is one of a four-man team selected to play by the USTA from the top American players in his age division. His teammates include, Dougal Williams, Portland OR, Willie Dann, Denver CO, and Lewis Miller, Denver CO. This event is sponsored annually by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and will include the world’s top players in each age division competing during the weeklong event.
Currently one of the top ranked player in the Men’s 35 and over category in the USA, Carey is now a seasoned vet in international competition as he was selected to the 2008 Italia Cup Team that competed in Turkey. Carey, a Kansas City native, currently teaches Spanish and serves as the Asst Coach at Staley High School in North Kansas City.
